What does InsyteLayer do?

InsyteLayer is a Shopify app that generates AI-assisted product opinions from merchant product data and images, localizes them for storefront languages, and can collect product-level shopper votes on whether an opinion was helpful.

Who is this app for?

It is built for Shopify merchants who want richer product detail on product pages without manually writing opinion-style summaries for every product and every language.

How are product opinions generated?

The app reads the product catalog data you authorize through Shopify, including product titles, descriptions, tags, vendor or type information, and selected image URLs. That information is sent to our AI processing flow to generate structured opinion content such as the main summary, pros, cons, and rating.

Does the app support multiple languages?

Yes. Merchants can select storefront languages and save prompts per locale. InsyteLayer uses those settings when generating localized opinion content for the store.

Can shoppers vote on opinions?

Yes, if the merchant enables voting. The app records helpful or unhelpful votes at product level and stores them using a pseudonymous logged-in customer identifier or a signed anonymous browser token when no customer is logged in.

Does InsyteLayer collect customer personal data?

The app is designed to avoid collecting unnecessary customer personal data for this feature set. For storefront voting, it may process a pseudonymous identifier derived from Shopify's logged-in customer ID or an anonymous signed token, but it does not intentionally use customer names, postal addresses, or customer email addresses to generate opinions.

Where is AI processing involved?

AI processing is used when generating product opinions from merchant product information and product image URLs. The current implementation uses OpenRouter as the AI gateway for supported models.

What happens when the app is uninstalled?

When the app is uninstalled, shop-related data is deleted in line with Shopify compliance requirements and the app's internal retention procedures, including handling required Shopify redaction workflows.

How does billing work?

The app tracks usage and plan state per shop. Depending on the merchant's plan, generation may be limited by included usage or may allow paid overages. Billing records are managed through Shopify billing flows where applicable.

How do I install or open the app?

Install the app from Shopify, then open it inside Shopify Admin. Public app flows should not require manually entering a shop domain on the public site.
